Have a favorite family recipe for a broth but not able to enjoy it any more because of the fat?
Here is a simple way to get the fat out of your broth!
Make your broth as you normally would and cool it in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning you will notice that most of the fat has risen to the surface and congelled. Use a spoon to remove the solidified fat and move the broth into the freezer and freeze for 8 hours. At the end of the 8 hours you will be able to use a clean paper napkin to wipe the remaining fat off the frozen surface!
Yes, it really is that simple.
You then rewarm the broth and use it as you normally would or you can refreeze it in ice cube trays then simply place in a ziplock bag and back in the freezer. Each cube is about 1/8 a cup so it is easy to use in recipies.
You can also just take out a few cubes at a time and heat it for a quick gastric friendly snack!
Broth made this way is a great start for soups, gravies and alot of other dishes and because you removed the fat yourself and you know what it in it you have better control over what is going in your body.
